What Exede service packages are available to me?

With the Classic packages all web activity is counted toward your monthly data allowance. 

Wondering if the Liberty package is better for you than a Classic package? If you and your family mostly use the internet during the daytime, especially before 5 p.m., you’ll likely benefit from our Liberty Plan.  If you and your family use the internet a lot at all hours of the day and night, the Liberty Plan should improve your overall experience compared to our older Exede plans.

With a traditional data plan, your plan has a strict data allowance (sometimes called a “data cap”) every month. Once you’ve used up all your data, your service will be restricted, with very slow speeds if you do not buy more data. With the Liberty Plan, if you use all of your Priority Data, you can continue to use the service at slower speeds that should still be fast enough to do most of what you want to do online.

A data allowance threshold is the amount of data you can upload or download in a 30-day period before the Data Allowance Policy may reduce your speeds. If you feel you need a higher data plan please contact Gardonville Customer Care by calling 320.834.5151.

 

So I get the same speed no matter which package I go with?

Yes. We believe you shouldn't have to pay extra to receive the highest speed we offer. 

How can you offer such fast speeds? Are they being provided via a new satellite?

Yes. The rollout of Exede broadband service is a major milestone in a process that began in 2008 when ViaSat started construction on its next-generation satellite system, representing the most significant capacity leap in the history of satellite technology. The system uses the the breakthrough ViaSat-1 satellite that was launched in October 2011. ViaSat-1 has more capacity than the rest of the communications satellites over North America combined, and is designed to serve over a million subscribers.

Is ViaSat-1s high capacity the sole reason for the high speeds?

That is only part of the reason. Our new service incorporates new, ground breaking web acceleration technology which dramatically speeds up page load times. The combination of ViaSat-1, our web acceleration technology and equipment is what facilitates these exciting new services.

What kind of new things can I do? Is the experience different than previous satellite services I've had?

What happens if I exceed my monthly data allowance?

If you use up your data allowance before your monthly reset date, we will send you an email alert and your service will be significantly slowed and/or restricted. If you do not receive an email please contact Gardonville Customer Care by calling 320.834.5151. On a monthly basis your usage will be reset to zero, at which point your speeds will be restored. What do you mean by "significantly slowed and/or restricted"?

Your service, or certain uses of your service, will be very slow or curtailed. For example, streaming videos and music, large file downloads, voice/video chat, gaming and cloud backup services will not work. 

Why do you restrict service?

Service is restricted only if you exceed your data allowance. Wireless networks, like satellite, are more likely to become overloaded by heavy video usage. We put limits on the total bandwidth a subscriber can use so that our service can maintain high speeds even during the busiest hours of the day.

Can I increase my data allowance?

If you find you need more data than your plan allows, you can always upgrade to a higher data plan or "Buy More" 1G at a time to get you through until your reset date. There is no charge to upgrade (or downgrade) your account between packages. You can Buy More online on our customer portal at gctel.ruralportal.net.

When is my monthly reset date?

Your monthly measurement reset date can be found by calling Gardonville customer care at 320.834.5151 or online by logging on to our customer portal at gctel.ruralportal.net.

 Am I able to check my usage somewhere?

Yes. You can check your usage at any time by logging in to our customer portal at gctel.ruralportal.net.

 I'm a current WildBlue customer. Can I get Exede?

Yes. As a valued current customer, we want to offer you an opportunity to upgrade to our new service.
